BEESTJE
material: Airplane ply
where: in the home
While trekking in Borneo I found this lovely tiny bug that would roll up when scared. The layer of shells it created was impregnable to threats. The color in between the shells however created an optical illusion of transparency. I tried to make a lamp that can be opened and closed in the same way and that would have the warm glow of this little creature. When the hood is open more light comes through, but when the hood is closed the lamp itself lights up even more. Airplane ply was used to get the deep orange color and a led to get the powerful but small light.
